The Last Excavation at Shōbuzako Kofun (勝負砂古墳)

I’d just like to take a moment to show people the BSEAA (Bulletin of the Society of East Asian Archaeology). Just having found it myself a few days ago, it contains some very interesting reads and field reports and the like. One by Jane Oksbjerg, Ph.D is of great interest. While she has written quite a few, this field report caught my eye as I began to read it for one reason at first. The site is very exciting and sadly a rarity; it’s an unlooted grave inside a burial mound. That alone is enough to turn some heads, finding a site completely unlooted always raises spirits for everyone. It gives us a chance to see how everything was left inside the burial mound, without the interference from looters; which can at times lead to a better understanding of burial ceremonies or the importance of the person burried.

I’m not going to go deep into talking about it at the moment, I just wanted to point it out and show other readers what I came across. Here is the link:

Well, I completely re-did my blog. Its taking a new path now as now I will being to focus upon Archaeology, the world, and just general things about me. I just updated Wordpress from 2.2 to 2.7 via FTP, so now I’m back and going strong. Things will be changing throughout the month or so probably. I will only work on this website as time permits, but it should be a enjoyable ride.
