Ergo Proxy (エルゴプラクシー)
That clockwork is soon upset by a series of murders committed by what seems to be a wild AutoReiv running rampant around Romdo. These murders began to upset the very delicate balance of Romdo. This is when Re-I Mayer takes the leading roll, and begins to investigate the truth behind these murders. She gets herself into quite a situation and starts to realize that the everyday citizen Vincent Law may have something to do with this, even though he has no idea what is going on. That is just the tip of the iceberg on the story, as it really begins to take off after that. They begin exploring the meaning behind the Cogito Virus (A virus which instills human emotions within the AutoReivs, making them have their own free will and soul), and the mysterious Proxys.
I don’t want to say too much about the anime in fear of ruining some really good parts, but if you are a fan of some of the more deeper, storyline-driven animes, such as Evangelion, then I think you will really enjoy Ergo Proxy, it has just the right amount of action, drama, and storyline, all with a nice little twist of subtle comedy and a dap of gloom to keep the atmosphere.
As for people who have already finished Ergo Proxy, I really recommend reading Anikimeiski’s analysis of the last episode as well as Ergo Proxy in general, he really made some very thought-provoking statements, as well as brining my mind to a couple of things I did not even realize within Ergo Proxy.
